Season Round Up

My consistency has improved at Carnoustie whilst playing The Championship Course better this year. My handicap has not varied much from plus 3 (currently +3.2). I had two hole-in-one’s this year; at Crail and at Goswick (both in practise rounds unfortunately).

I won Panmure Club Championship. My plan for next year is to do better in tournaments. This winter I hope to increase my club head speed using the Indoor Performance Centre and also work on my wedges and short game.

________

1.08.23 – 2.08.23
Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship

Course: Royal Dornoch
Round Scores: 76, 75

My putting needed improvement as I putted poorly under pressure, after this event I focused on improving my short game.

________

8.07.23
King Trophy

Course: Nairn Golf Club

I finished 6th place in this competition with a final score of 226 – I do think that better decision making and course management could have helped me achieve a better finish.

________

26.6.23
British Open Regional Qualifying

Course: Goswick Golf Club
Round Score: 76

I was drawn in the afternoon and managed to play okay in the worst of conditions.

________

17.6.23 & 18.6.23
Tennant Cup

Course: Gailes Links (Glasgow Golf Club)
Round Scores: 73, 77

While playing this event I was trying to think too far ahead and believe this is why I missed the cut, I need to improve on focusing on one shot at a time.

________

02.06.23 – 04.06.23
Scottish Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship

Course: Meldrum House
Round Scores:
 77, 76

I felt that I didn’t prepare well enough for this event as I lacked course knowledge at Meldrum House and I wasn’t patient enough on the greens.

________

2.6.23
Scottish Men’s Open Pre-Qualifier

Course: Kemnay Golf Club
Round Score: 70

Qualified in 10th shooting 70

________

16.4.23
Crail Gents Individual Battle Trophy

I missed the cut by 1. My takeaways from this event were that my course and competition management needs improvement.
